Cocktail overview
Cocktail is a general purpose utility for macOS that lets you clean, repair and optimize your Mac. It is a powerful digital toolset that helps hundreds of thousands of Mac users around the world get the most out of their computers every day.
The application serves up a perfect mix of maintenance tools and tweaks, all accessible through a clean and easy to use interface. What's new in version 19.9
- Added ability to reset NVRAM (System > Memory)
NVRAM (non-volatile random-access memory) is a type of computer memory that retains its data even when the device is turned off. Unlike regular RAM, which forgets everything when the power is cut, NVRAM keeps small, important system settings safe until the next time you turn your device on. This feature clears all of the firmware variables and custom low-level settings like speaker volume, screen resolution, timezone, and startup disk selection, returning them to default values. It can be used as a harmless fix for minor hardware or system glitches (like audio or display weirdness).
- Major improvements to clearing of applications caches
- Added ability to clear TextEdit caches
- Temporary files created by the Books, Contacts, Find My, Freeform, Home, Maps, Messages, Music, Photos, Siri, TextEdit, and TV apps are now deleted from their container directories when clearing application caches
- Resolved a number of issues discovered in the previous release

Unlike a few negative reviews, I was given a serial number for both Ventura and Sonoma versions, and received them within 24 hrs. of paying. It was a little more than the 10 hrs. specified, but my purchase was on a Saturday evening, so I’m letting that one slide. I have used Cocktail in the past with great results.

I had a lifetime license for years, then they updated it, and my version stopped working. They wanted me to buy it again and wouldn't give me back the old version. I thought this was wrong so I moved to Onyx, which is awesome.

MacUpdate's App Specs say that the architecture now includes Apple Silicon. Get Info on my Mac says it remains solely Intel.

The good.
Upgraded ****tail and received codes for OS 13, 14 and 15. I am running OS 15.
The bad.
It quits a few seconds after launch. It is unusable for me. MacBook Air, M2, OS 15.1.1
Support seems to be non-existent
I used to love and recommend ****tail, but not anymore.

I'm very disappointed that Maintain no longer honours its contract with some of us who purchased lifetime upgrades years ago. There's been no response from customer service after I've repeatedly contacted them. At least Onyx is free.

Was a fan, but no longer. As many others have posted, Maintain has gone to a nickel-dime price model and has become unresponsive. Try OnyX instead.
